Exciting Wisconsin Audiences with Music Since 1976
Mrs. Johanna Anderson, M.M.
This is Mrs. Anderson's third season as Music Director and Conductor of the Lakeshore Symphonic Band. She is also Associate Director of Instrumental Music at Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW), a position she has held since 2015. Her primary responsibilities at CUW include directing the University Band and the Falcon Pep Band and Drumline, as well as teaching woodwind techniques and private oboe lessons. In addition, she is the assistant director of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, CUW's touring concert band and plays oboe, English horn, trumpet, and viola with the other CUW instrumental ensembles. At CUW, Mrs. Anderson chairs the music scholarship committee and works with the admissions department to recruit students to the music program; preparing, advising, and mentoring future music educators is an important part of her teaching philosophy.
Mrs. Anderson graduated from CUW in 2013 with a B.A. in K-12 Music Education and Spanish Education, and received her Master of Music in Music Education from Boston University in 2018. From 2013-2015, she taught band and orchestra at Perry A. Tipler Middle School in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The former principal oboist of the Kettle Moraine Symphony Orchestra (2016-2021), Mrs. Anderson now maintains a private oboe studio and performs professionally in the greater Milwaukee area and at local churches. She is an adjudicator for WSMA and other solo and ensemble festivals and is a frequent guest clinician at area schools. Currently she is working toward a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Music Education through Boston University.
