Mrs. Anderson brings both heart and artistry to her role as Music Director of the Lakeshore Symphonic Band. Since 2022, she has led the ensemble with a conductor’s precision and a teacher’s care—creating performances that are as uplifting for the musicians as they are for the audience. A gifted multi-instrumentalist and dedicated educator, she thrives on building connections through music, fostering growth, and bringing every performance to life with energy and warmth.

Now in her fourth season as Music Director and Conductor of the Lakeshore Symphonic Band, Mrs. Anderson brings exceptional artistry, energy, and vision to the podium. In addition to her leadership with the Band, she serves as Associate Director of Instrumental Music at Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW), a role she has held since 2015. Mrs. Johanna Anderson, M.M. Music Director & ConductorAt CUW, she directs the University Band, the Falcon Pep Band and Drumline, and teaches woodwind techniques along with private oboe instruction. She also serves as Assistant Director of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, CUW’s touring concert band, performing on oboe, English horn, trumpet, and viola with various university ensembles. As chair of CUW’s music scholarship committee, she works closely with the admissions department to recruit and mentor the next generation of musicians—guiding future music educators is at the heart of her teaching philosophy.

A proud CUW alumna, Mrs. Anderson earned her B.A. in K–12 Music Education and Spanish Education in 2013 before completing a Master of Music in Music Education from Boston University in 2018. She began her career teaching band and orchestra at Perry A. Tipler Middle School in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and later served as principal oboist with the Kettle Moraine Symphony Orchestra from 2016–2021.

Today, she maintains a thriving private oboe studio, performs professionally throughout the greater Milwaukee area, and is a frequent adjudicator for the Wisconsin School Music Association and other solo and ensemble festivals. She is also in demand as a guest clinician at area schools. Currently, she is pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Music Education through Boston University.

Beyond the concert hall, Mrs. Anderson enjoys gardening and treasure-hunting in thrift shops. She makes her home in Mequon, Wisconsin with her husband, John, and their two cats, Winston and Leo.
